Go MGTOW Young Man, Go MGTOW!

I just finished reading Wikipedia's plot summary of the movie Gone Girl https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gone_Girl_%28film%29

If I were looking for a reason not to marry (or even let a woman stay at my place for "a few days"), then the events in this movie provide it. Let's look:

1. She frames her husband for her murder and goes into hiding.
2. She murders the man who is hiding and protecting her.
3. She coerces her husband into not divorcing her by spermjacking him and getting pregnant.

I happen to like the "got away with murder" sub-genre of movies.  (Think Godfather and Mr. Ripley, for two examples.) What bothers me is all the feminist approval. There is a strong undercurrent of "she done a good thing" in that gang.

'Nuff said.

Tim Allen HAM License

I've always liked Tim Allen

Actor Tim Allen Gets His Ham Ticket For Real http://www.arrl.org/arrlletter?issue=2014-10-02#toc05

He has a successful career as an actor and comedian http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000741/

The HAM license is icing on the cake. Good for him!

Tim's Vermeer - Good Movie

How did Vermeer achieve the effects he did in his masterwork paintings?  No one knows, but quite a few painters and scientists think he used some kind of optical system.  Tim Jenison sets out to replicate one of Vermeer's most famous works, The Music Lesson, doing just that.  The results are astonishing, the effort to achieve them heroic.

Tim's Vermeer (2013) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3089388/

Tim's Vermeer is on Blu-Ray and DVD from Sony Home Entertainment, or you can watch it over the internet via pay per view. I've never been satisfied with the latter (poor picture quality), and the DVD has extras.  Sony sells it through Amazon.  Here's the link:  http://www.amazon.com/Tims-Vermeer-Blu-ray-Teller/dp/B00J5LXN2M/

Here's one for free that I find interesting. Like Tim did, these men spend all day bent over exacting work and near-microscopic detail. They are artists:

MGTOW Topics
Things for a Man Going His Own Way to think about.
First Rule: If someone says "man up," do not. It's a trap!

Ham Radio
Amateur radio can be the only way to communicate in times of disaster, when the cell towers, land lines, and roads are all out of service. Schtuff-Hits-The-Fan aside, ham radio is a pleasurable and challenging hobby for people from all walks of life. Ham is enjoyed by athletes in prime condition and quadriplegics, the old and the young, and men and women. It can be frugally cheap (under $100) or hideously expensive.
It is a challenge because one has to learn a body of material and pass tests on it. Everything needed is available for free or in book form. One must assemble and make radios work, or buy plug and play equipment. One must master the customs and courtesies of the hobby. Fear not, if you've read this far, you can do it.

Ham Resources
  • The American Radio Relay League (ARRL) is the national association for amateur radio, connecting hams around the U.S. with news, information and resources. http://www.arrl.org/home
  • Gordon West books
  • Countless websites and YouTube videos (look 'em up).
Books
These are merely a good start, and not the only ones by any means. I am using the Amazon link for my convenience. (MGTOW often means finding out things are not easy.) The books are widely available, new and used, from many sources.
Anything by
  • Ann Rand,
  • Robert H. Heinlein,
  • Poul Anderson.
The list goes on.

Movies
  • Lifeguard http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074798/ Rick the career lifeguard is like a hero of Greek myth, he suffers the torments and achieves the triumphs of his choice to be MGTOW despite the pressures to conform put upon him by lesser men and women.
  • If you ever wondered why some men remain single, then watch Susan Silverman's character in School Of Rock http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0332379/ Just because she is drop dead gorgeous doesn't make marriage a good idea.
Websites
Survival

Can you get by for a month or so if a natural disaster cuts off your electricity and roads? Hint: You had better have a first aid kit, a pantry full of canned food, and a shed or garage full of tools.
Can you make a hobo stove to cook the canned food you cleverly stashed in your pantry?
  • Countless websites and YouTube videos (look 'em up).
